What is the Microbiology Student Symposium?
The Microbiology Student Group (MSG) is an interdepartmental association of students from multiple departments at UC Berkeley who share a common interest in microbiology. We meet once a month and hold an annual symposium to celebrate the latest research in microbiology from researchers across several institutions. One way we choose to promote communication between research is by organizing the Microbiology Student Symposium, which is a forum for students researching all topics in microbiology to present their work to an engaged group of students, scientists, and members of the general public interested in microbiology. Now, we invite you to join us and be part of our community of microbiology researchers.
What to Expect?
The research presented at the symposium reflects a broad perspective on the field of microbiology. At the symposium, we encourage attendees to share oral and poster presentations on topics ranging from classic microbiology to physics to engineering. Here, you will have many opportunities to present all types of microbiology research, class projects, and art. Furthermore, we not only attract students across disciplines at UC Berkeley, but we also draw students from universities and community colleges across California to attend and participate. The broad scope, relaxed environment, and an approachable audience of this meeting are important for the success as we strive to meet our goals: to stimulate discussion, education, collaboration, and creativity in microbiology and beyond.
